Gene Patent Bill

Posted by Osagie K. Obasogie on May 18th, 2007

The Genomic Research and Accessibility Act - aiming to curb the gold rush on patenting human genes - is making its way through Congress. As of now, 20% of the human genome has been patented, which stymies research and gives individuals and corporations unprecedented power over humanity. You can do you part and show your support for Representatives Becerra's (D-CA) and Weldons' (R-FL) bill by sending a fax this week to the address below. More information on this issue can be found here.

The Honorable Xavier Becerra
United States House of Representatives
1119 Longworth House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515
fax 202.225.2202
